Apple Tree Grafting
with Jason Townsend of Kingfisher Farm
Saturday, March 18th
Two Sessions—choose one: 9:30 to 11:30am OR 1 to 3pm
Space is limited—limit to 1 person per house/farm so that more operations can attend
$60/person
Join farmer and orchardist Jason Townsend of Kingfisher Farm for a hands-on session of apple tree grafting!
This workshop starts with the basics of apple rootstocks, working with scions, sourcing disease resistant varieties, and how to handle your grafted seedlings for their first year. There will be plenty of time to practice your cutting skills and get feedback, before you graft and prepare six trees to take home with you.
Rootstocks are from the Finger Lakes and sturdy, fast growing, and fireblight resistant. Scion wood comes from Kingfisher Farm’s orchard, where it’s been selected for disease resistance, hardiness for CNY, and organic growing conditions.
BYOB (Bring Your Own Bucket) to take your trees home in.
$60.00 per person
