Offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County in partnership with the community organizations listed below and our dedicated group of certified volunteers. To become a certified volunteer in future tax seasons, please email madison@cornell.edu.

Last year, the TCE program returned over $1 MILLION in refunds for Madison County seniors.

Volunteer Needed

The Tax Counseling Program for the Elderly (TCE) in Madison County is seeking volunteers to assist in preparing tax returns for individuals age 60 and over, free of charge. Volunteers will receive training and support with IRS certification. It's a great opportunity to learn new skills and connect with people in the community while giving back. We have sites in Oneida, Chittenango, Canastota, Cazenovia, Hamilton and Morrisville.

What you need to bring.

To file your 2022 tax return you must bring:

Last year’s tax return
Proof of Social Security for anyone being claimed
Picture ID such as a driver’s license
Tax information received from banks, brokers, employers, etc. such as W-2s and 1099s
If you own a home valued at $85,000 or less and you are over 65 you may be eligible for a NYS rebate.
If you own your home you may be eligible for the enhanced NYS STAR program which will save you money on property tases.
If you are a NYS Volunteer Firefighter and Ambulance worker, you can receive a credit or your service.
